According to the Companies House WebCHeck database, the sound/video/etc. manufacturer Island Records Limited incorporated on May 8, 1962 and changed its name to Universal-Island Records Limited on March 29, 1999. Its current address is 364-366 Kensington High Street, London W14 8NS. Also, the sound recording publisher Island Music Limited incorporated on May 21, 1963, and changed its name to Universal/Island Music Limited on July 30, 1999. Its current address is 136-144 New Kings Road, London SW6 4FX.

Also according to Companies House, Island Records & Music Holdings Limited, Island Records Manufacturing Limited, and Island Records Finance Limited were previously incorporated in England/Wales. The former two dissolved on June 14, 1991, and the latter dissolved one day earlier. Further information on them is in archives that can only be accessed by calling Companies House at 0870 3333636.

According to the California Secretary of State web site, Island Records, Inc. incorporated in California on June 10, 1974, at 7720 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90046. The company ceased to exist when it merged with another company. Details of the merger are not available on the web site. Also, New York-based Island Records, Inc. incorporated in California on September 17, 1982. It voluntarily surrendered its right to do business in California at some later date. Details of the surrender are not available on the web site. The current contact address is 800 Third Ave, New York NY 10022.

According to the New York Secretary of State Division of Corporations, UFO Music, Inc. (a music publisher with Nico and Sandy Denny hits in its repertoire) incorporated in New York on March 2, 1970. It was renamed to Island Records, Inc. on September 23, 1981, then Island Music, Inc. on August 12, 1982 — the same day a separate Island Records, Inc. was incorporated — and finally Island Entertainment Group, Inc. on August 30, 1985. Both this company and the second Island Records Inc. merged with UMG Recordings, Inc. on January 6, 2000, and its principal business location is currently listed as "c/o PolyGram Tax Dept, 825 8th Ave, New York, NY 10019". Meanwhile, Chappell & Co., Inc., a Delaware corporation, received authority to do business in New York State on July 23, 1968. Its name changed to PolyGram Records, Inc. on February 3, 1984. Its name changed again to UMG Recordings, Inc. on December 20, 1999.
